Antique Lalique
Specialises in buying and selling glass art designed and produced by René Lalique from the early 1920's until his death in 1945.
René Lalique, born near Paris in 1860, was one of the most gifted designers of the early 20th Century. After being a student at the School of Decorative Arts in Paris he began his first career as a jeweller, apprenticed to a top Parisian jewellery house. His innovative jewellery often experimented with glass, a medium which eventually became the focus of his later life.
René Lalique bought a factory at Wingen-Sur-Moder in Alsace in 1921 and during the next 25 years took his design and production of decorative glassware to new levels. His love of nature and the animal world inspired his use of birds, fish, flowers and fauna into his unique designs.
During the latter half of the 20th Century and the first quarter of this century Lalique glass, designed and produced during his lifetime, has consistently appreciated in value.
